Apple adding another console-caliber game to Apple Arcade

Apple is set to add PGA TOUR Pro Golf to Apple Arcade on February 6th. As someone who was obsessed with console games while I was growing up, I can’t help but get excited about this release. This is just another console-level game being added to the already growing portfolio of high-level games. Here’s what you should expect.

As I said above, some of my best memories growing up were being at a friend’s house and comparing just how good our created golfers were. From comparing attributes of golf clubs to accessories. All that is coming and more.

What to expect

Real-world courses

You cannot have a PGA Tour game without some of the most iconic courses. You will be able to play on:

  • Pebble Beach Golf Links
  • The Links at Spanish Bay
  • Spyglass Hill Golf Course
  • Firestone Country Club
  • Bay Hill Club and Lodge
  • Harbour Town Golf Links
  • Latrobe Country Club

One huge perk is that this is an Apple Arcade title, so it will continuously get updates. This means that more courses are expected to be added in the coming weeks and months.

Head-to-Head Mode

This will also enhance the game’s interaction. We will be able to play head-to-head with other players and your friends who are also playing PGA Tour Pro, and it will be in real time. The fact that it’s in real time means that there is no waiting for turns. This will make it face-paced and allow you to get through matches much quicker than before.

Tournament Mode

You can enter daily and multi-day tournaments. You will compete with people on the leaderboards and be able to earn rewards that ultimately lead to improvements for your golfer. As you progress through these tournaments and other parts of the game, you will earn coins and cash. This will help unlock more modes and better gear for upgraded clubs and equipment.

Some other bits

  • Supports game controllers
  • iOS, iPadOS, MacOS and tvOS support
  • about 2.6GB download sizer

Final take

As I mentioned, I am very excited to get my hands on this game. The beauty of it is that it is part of Apple Arcade, so I don’t need to pay anything additional for it, and there are no microtransactions associated with it. I can play until I no longer can! If you are not signed up for Apple Arcade and want to try this game, there is a one month free trial here.

Let me know what you think about this. Have you ever played PGA TOUR games? Are you excited about this? Let’s discuss below.
