macOS 15.5 beta 4 now available for download [U]

Apple’s next Mac software update, macOS 15.5, is inching closer to wide distribution. Today Apple released macOS 15.5 beta 4 to developers, bringing the latest refinements and fixes.

Update 4:47 p.m. ET: A new public beta is now available too, just hours after the developer release shipped.

What to expect from macOS Sequoia 15.5 beta 4

If you have opted in to receive developer software updates from Apple, there’s a new one available today for Mac.

macOS Sequoia 15.5 beta 4 is likely one of the last betas in this current software cycle.

Why? Because Apple doesn’t seem to have much it’s adding with this next update.

So far, user-facing features have been extremely minimal.

There are some small additions to the Apple Mail app, but otherwise what’s coming is fairly minor, even if Apple does plan to have a couple surprises pop up near launch time.

As a result, unless additional new features are introduced that could lead to fresh bugs, delaying the public launch of these coming updates doesn’t seem necessary.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Apple ships the RC (release candidate version) of macOS 15.5 in the next couple weeks or so, with the full launch arriving around mid-May.
