Presumed Innocent season 2 will replace Jake Gyllenhaal with new lead star

Last summer, Presumed Innocent become a big hit for Apple TV+, and what was intended as a limited series got a season 2 pickup. Now, Apple has announced its plan for replacing Jake Gyllenhaal in the new season.

Rachel Brosnahan will lead Presumed Innocent season 2

Apple TV’s X account announced today that Presumed Innocent has found its new lead star.

Season 2 of the legal thriller will be headed by Rachel Brosnahan

Brosnahan is best known for her starring role in Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which hailed from the creators of Gilmore Girls.

She will next be seen as Lois Lane in this summer’s Superman reboot from director James Gunn.

Apple not only has shared that Brosnahan is heading up Presumed Innocent season 2, but the new season’s source material has also been revealed.

It will be based on the book “Dissection of a Murder” by Jo Murray, as the show adopts a new anthology approach with each season focused on a new set of characters.

Here’s a summary of the book:

When Leila Reynolds is handed her first murder case, she’s shocked at how high-profile it is: the murder of a well-respected, well-known judge. This shouldn’t be the kind of case she’s leading; it’s way beyond her expertise. But the defendant, Jack Millman, is clear. He wants her, and only her.

Presumed Innocent’s first season is available in its entirety on Apple TV+.

Apple TV+ is available for $9.99 per month and features hit TV shows and movies like Ted LassoSeveranceThe Morning ShowSilo, and Shrinking.
