New Apple TV+ movie with Matthew McConaughey looks high-stakes and intense

Apple TV+ has a strong movie lineup coming this fall, and we just got the release date and full trailer for one of those highly anticipated films: The Lost Bus, which stars Matthew McConaughey.

Apple announces The Lost Bus release date, new trailer

Apple’s biggest movie of the year is easily F1. But there’s another intense, vehicle-centered movie on the way that strikes a very different tone.

The Lost Bus is coming to Apple TV+ on Friday, October 3, following a limited theatrical release September 19.

Here’s Apple’s summary followed by the just-released trailer:

From director Paul Greengrass and inspired by real events, “The Lost Bus” is a white-knuckle ride through one of America’s deadliest wildfires as a wayward school bus driver (Matthew McConaughey) and a dedicated school teacher (America Ferrera) battle to save 22 children from the terrifying inferno.

Greengrass is best known for directing most of the Jason Bourne film franchise, but he also notably directed true-life stories like United 93 and Captain Phillips.

The Lost Bus looks a lot more like those latter two films, presenting historic events in a captivating, edge-of-your-seat type movie. It also seems likely to be part of the Oscar conversation this year, if the final product turns out anything like the trailer.
