Apple TV+ premieres the first new Snoopy musical special in 37 years

As part of its exclusive deal with Peanuts, Apple TV+ today premieres Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical. This is the latest original Snoopy special to air on the platform, and this one stands out as it is a song-filled musical. The last time Peanuts premiered a new musical episode was more than 37 years ago.

The new special celebrates summer camp. Charlie Brown is trying to make his last year at camp as special as possible. Meanwhile, Snoopy and Woodstock find a treasure map that leads them on an adventure.

The launch of the new musical special is in part a celebration of Charlie Brown’s 75th anniversary. The music in this musical is well-staged, given the plot sees the Peanuts gag host their own concert to try and save the camp.

And with a runtime of 40 minutes, there’s quite a lot of new music to enjoy. The original songs include “When We Were Light”, “Look Up, Charlie Brown”, “Leave It Better”, “Best Time Ever” and “A Place Like This”. You can find a playlist of all the new songs on Apple Music.

Apple’s deal with producer WildBrain makes it the exclusive streaming home of everything to do with Peanuts.

You can watch the entire library of Snoopy content with an Apple TV+ subscription, including classic specials, new series and original specials, documentaries and more.

Apple is also still developing a new feature-length Snoopy movie, in which Snoopy heads for an adventure in the big city, but that does not yet have a release date.
