Apple’s Wallet app just made it easier to ‘pay later’ for purchases

Ever since Apple Pay Later was abruptly discontinued last year, Apple has been steadily adding third-party ‘pay later’ services as alternatives. And now thanks to an Apple Wallet update, those options are easier to find and use than ever before.

Apple Wallet now has a ‘Pay Later Options’ menu with streamlined setup

Before today Apple Pay already included support for using third-party ‘pay later’ services such as Klarna and Affirm. But the way that’s historically worked has been pretty hidden and inconvenient.

Until now, you would choose and set up a pay later option during the Apple Pay checkout process. So at the time of purchase, you’d double click your iPhone’s side button to initiate Apple Pay, then choose Other Cards & Pay Later Options, and walk through the setup process for a pay later option.

Fortunately, things are way easier now.

As highlighted by Aaron Perris on X, Apple has just rolled out a new menu inside the Wallet app.

‘Pay Later Options’ is available to all Wallet app users, whether you’re running iOS 18 or iOS 26. All you have to do is hit the ‘+’ button in the top-right corner of the app.

The new menu lists out all available pay later options that are at your disposal. You can then walk through the setup process of your chosen service.

Taking care of all of this pre-authorization before the actual moment of purchase should prove a lot more convenient. Not to mention the boost to discoverability by adding it inside Wallet.

Is it a coincidence that Apple is rolling out this Wallet change right before the iPhone 17 launches? Probably not. But it’s a nice update regardless.
