Here’s how much bigger iPhone Air is than the iPhone 17 Pro

iPhone Air is a brand new model in Apple’s lineup with a screen size that’s noticeably bigger than the iPhone 17 Pro. Here’s how the two models measure up in dimensions.

Product dimensions: iPhone Air vs. iPhone 17 Pro

Apple’s iPhone lineup this year offers more variety than ever. But that can make a purchase decision more difficult, as Apple seems to acknowledge.

For users who love large iPhone screens, iPhone 17 Pro Max is the clear choice. But between the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro, it’s a little more tricky.

iPhone Air is larger, but also thinner, which could make for a great compromise both for users who want a large screen and those who prefer smaller ones.

Here are the specs from Apple:

iPhone Air

  • Height: 6.15 inches
  • Width: 2.94 inches
  • Display: 6.5 inches (diagonal)

iPhone 17 Pro

  • Height: 5.91 inches
  • Width: 2.83 inches
  • Display: 6.3 inches (diagonal)

If looking at numbers alone isn’t the most helpful, you should know that iPhone 17 Pro is nearly identical in size to the iPhone 16 Pro.

So if, like me, you’re considering upgrading from a 16 Pro to the Air, you can use your current phone as a fairly accurate reference point.

iPhone Air: Big screen for small phone lovers?

Ultimately, it seems like the size differences aren’t too significant between the Air and 17 Pro.

I’ve historically favored smaller iPhones, and looking at these dimensions has alleviated any concerns that the iPhone Air might be too large for my tastes.

Of course, another important dimension is depth.

iPhone Air is just 0.22 inch deep vs. the 0.34 inch depth of iPhone 17 Pro. That should make a significant difference to how each model feels in hand.

And just for fun, here are the weight comparisons: iPhone Air is 5.82 ounces, iPhone 17 Pro is 7.27 ounces.
