tvOS 26 adds a new icon to your Home Screen, but it’s not a new app

tvOS 26 launches to all users next week, and after updating you might notice a new app icon on your Home Screen: Sing. But don’t get too excited.

Apple Music Sing gets its own app icon in tvOS 26, but it’s the same Music app

Apple Music Sing has been available for years as a way to enjoy karaoke with the existing Apple Music library.

You can use the feature across any supported Apple device, but Apple TV 4K makes for an especially ideal platform since large screens and karaoke parties go hand in hand.

In tvOS 26 and iOS 26, the feature gets even better too. Apple has a fresh upgrade that lets you use your iPhone as the karaoke mic.

But there’s another Sing change too.

Users who update to tvOS 26 will have a brand new Sing app icon added to the Apple TV Home Screen (if your hardware’s supported).

My first thought upon seeing it was that Apple had broken out Sing into a standalone app experience—which would have been fantastic.

Unfortunately, the truth is that the Sing icon is simply a shortcut into the existing Music app.

Opening Sing from the Home Screen launches the exact same Apple Music app as the Music icon.

The only difference is, the new Sing icon takes you straight into the Sing tab inside Music.

Is it useful? Sure. Just don’t get your hopes up for a dedicated Apple Music Sing app.

Have you used Apple Music Sing on your Apple TV, and do you plan to with the new iPhone mic feature in tvOS 26? Let us know in the comments.
