Apple Sports app gets widgets for live scores and schedules on your home screen

The Apple Sports app has seen a number of great updates over the year, and the latest of these is support for widgets on your Home Screen.

These can be customized to show live scores and schedules for your favorite teams and leagues, Including Live Activities on your Lock Screen. Apple has also rolled out the app to eight new countries …

The latest changes are found in version 3.3.

  • Now introducing Widgets for Apple Sports, giving you quick access to live scores and schedules right on your Home Screen. You can customize widgets to see a snapshot of what’s happening with your favorite teams and leagues anytime.
  • Fans in Austria, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain can now follow their favorite leagues and teams in Apple Sports.
  • The soccer lineup is growing, with Bundesliga 2, Ligue 2, Primeira Liga, Segunda División, and Serie B.
  • Now you can follow upcoming events, so you never miss a moment of the action. When the event kicks off, you’ll see Live Activities on your Lock Screen.
  • Enjoy NFL and college football games with more detailed updates in Live Activities and the app, including timeouts and more.

Apple says:

To add a widget, users can choose either the “My Teams” view for scores and upcoming schedules for their favorited teams, or the “League” view to keep up with scores and schedules for every team in a league. Widgets can be customized per device, and there is no limit on how many can be added, keeping sports fans in the know with the information they care about most, no matter what device they are on.

The app is free to use, and with over 134,000 ratings is scored 4.7 out of 5.
