Apple releases watchOS 26.0.1, but very few users will get it

Apple is rolling out a watchOS 26.0.1 build that appears to be specific to the Apple Watch Ultra 3. Here’s what’s new.

What’s new with watchOS 26.0.1?

There is a system update available for the Apple Watch, but you will only see it if you’re among the lucky users who already got their hands on the new Apple Watch Ultra 3.

Here are the release notes from Apple:

“This update enables Messages and Find My via satellite in Mexico for Apple Watch Ultra 3 users.”

This update (build 23R8352) is currently exclusive to the Apple Watch Ultra 3. Owners of other watchOS 26–compatible models will not see it yet, but Apple usually follows up major releases with a .0.1 update.

In other words, it shouldn’t be long before all supported Apple Watches are updated as well, and back in step with the Apple Watch Ultra 3.

Update: a previous version of this article stated that the update began rolling out on Friday, which was incorrect.
