iPadOS 26.1 rolling out now in developer beta 1

Apple has just kicked off a new wave of beta software releases.

iPadOS 26 was beta tested for months before its public launch last week, and now Apple is ready with a beta version of its next major update.

iPadOS 26.1 is available now in developer beta 1, with a public beta expected to follow before too long.

We don’t yet know what new features or changes will be included in iPadOS 26.1, but we’ll keep you posted on any discoveries we make.

In recent years, Apple would announce a variety of features for its software platforms at WWDC that didn’t actually arrive in September’s initial x.0 release.

This year, however, Apple was very careful to keep its WWDC announcements limited almost exclusively to new features that actually shipped in iOS and iPadOS 26.0 this week.

Unlike past years, then, we have very little idea of what to expect from updates like iPadOS 26.1, 26.2, and so on.

Have you installed the iPadOS 26.1 beta? Let us know of any changes you notice via the comments.
