Logitech launches a new Solar-powered slim wireless keyboard for Mac users

Today, Logitech is announcing its new Signature Slim Solar+ K980 keyboard, a slim wireless keyboard for Mac. Despite its normal looking design, it actually charges entirely via solar, so there’s no need to recharge it. It’ll be available for purchase today for $99.

You might wonder, does it being solar mean it needs to be next to a window with direct sunlight? Well, actually: no! The Signature Slim Solar+ K980 keyboard recharges using desk lamps and any sort of artificial light you have available near your keyboard. Pretty nifty.

It’ll also last up to 4 months in complete darkness, just in case that ends up being a concern for whatever reason.

Outside of it charging with solar, it’s a full size keyboard. It comes with a numpad, which personally I’m not a massive fan of, though some people are. The switches admittedly feel great, so you shouldn’t have an issue typing on this keyboard for longer periods of time.

Using Logitech’s Options+ software, you can customize the keyboard as you see fit – and remap certain keys.

This keyboard is optimized for Mac, so it’ll have all of the Mac specific keys you’d expect in a keyboard. It feels right at home, and it’s available in Graphite.

You can purchase a Signature Slim Solar+ K980 on Amazon for just $99 starting today. It does undercut the Magic Keyboard with Numpad, and the fact that you’ll never have to worry about recharging it is rather nifty – so if you’re in the market for a new keyboard for Mac, give this one a look!
