Apple Vision Pro gets the new M5 chip, Dual Knit Band, 120Hz, more

Alongside the new iPad Pro and MacBook Pro with the M5 Apple silicon, Apple announced today a revised Apple Vision Pro, which also features the new M5 chip, as well as the anticipated Dual Knit Band. Here are the details.

More pixels, higher refresh rate, new band

Apple says that the new M5 chip unlocks important performance gains when compared with the original Apple Vision Pro, with 10% more rendered pixels with the micro-OLED displays, as well as an increased, 120Hz refresh rate, versus up to 100 Hz in the original device. This allows for “crisper details, more fluid display performance, and reduced motion blur.”

The new chip packs a 16-core Neural Engine that allows AI-powered features to run up to 50 percent faster when capturing the user’s Persona, or rendering photos as spatial scenes. Apple says that the new chip also doubles performance for third-party apps.

The new device also comes with a new band, called Dual Knit Band, confirming previously reported rumors. Here’s Apple on the new accessory:

The Dual Knit Band delivers an even more comfortable fit for users. It features upper and lower straps that are 3D-knitted as a single piece to create a unique dual-rib structure that provides cushioning, breathability, and stretch. The lower strap features flexible fabric ribs embedded with tungsten inserts that provide a counterweight for additional comfort, balance, and stability. And the intuitive dual-function Fit Dial allows users to make fine-tuned adjustments to achieve their ideal fit. The new Dual Knit Band comes in small, medium, and large sizes; is available to purchase separately; and is compatible with the previous-generation Apple Vision Pro. Customers can easily find the size that is right for them using the Apple Store app for iPhone.

The new Apple Vision Pro is available for pre-order today in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the UAE, the UK, and the U.S, and will launch on October 22. Preorders in China mainland and Singapore start on Friday, October 17.

In the U.S., it starts at $3,499, which is the same price as the original version. The headset is available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage capacities. To book a demo, follow this link.
