These four Apple products are about to get very rare updates

Apple just launched three M5-equipped products this week, but rumors indicate even more new hardware is coming soon—including four products getting very rare updates.

New Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini, AirTag, and Studio Display are coming soon

The latest Apple products are a trio of M5-equipped devices: M5 iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Vision Pro.

All three products have varying levels of new features. None is a particularly big upgrade, though, as each had its predecessor debut just last year.

But rumors indicate the next Apple launches will be updates to products that don’t get new versions very often.

A new Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini 2, and AirTag 2 are all expected to launch within the next few weeks, followed by a new Studio Display in early 2026.

Each of these four products has had a particularly long wait since its last hardware revision.

Here’s when each was last updated:

  • Apple TV 4K: 3 years ago
  • HomePod mini: 5 years ago
  • AirTag: 4 1/2 years ago
  • Studio Display: 3 1/2 years ago

These multi-year waits stand in stark contrast to the annual cadence that most of Apple’s more popular products get.

For example, Apple typically launches revised iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch models every single year.

Sometimes those revisions come with big feature upgrades, and sometimes they’re more minor releases—like the new M5 products. But it’s rare to wait more than a year or 18 months between updates.

That’s simply not the case with Apple’s more ‘minor’ products. But soon, we’ll find out how Apple plans to modernize each product and make the most of its rare upgrade.
