Apple’s CODA movie, Best Picture winner, gets Blu-ray release

Recently, ahead of its Apple TV premiere, F1 The Movie debuted on Blu-ray. Now another big Apple original film is coming to the physical medium: the Best Picture-winner CODA is getting a Blu-ray release.

CODA Blu-ray and DVD available to order now with early November delivery

CODA was one of the earliest Apple TV films, and it turned into a huge success for the company.

In 2022, CODA became the first film from a streaming service to ever win the Oscar for Best Picture—the most prestigious US award.

Now, after years of streaming availability on Apple TV, the company is finally releasing CODA on Blu-Ray and DVD.

Available to order now and shipping November 4, you can buy the film in three formats:

This release seems to be part of a growing trend of streamers being more willing to offer physical movies for purchase. Despite previously favoring streaming-only availability, Apple now appears more open to offering Blu-ray versions of its movies.

Perhaps there’s been higher demand for owning physical media than Apple anticipated.

When streaming services were rapidly growing in Apple TV’s early days, Apple may have thought that physical media would quickly become too niche to bother with.

However, it’s become clear that in an age of subscription fatigue and frustration over content licensing regularly changing hands, many people still prefer to own films and TV shows themselves.

Apple TV is available for $12.99 per month and features hit TV shows and movies like Ted LassoSeveranceThe Morning ShowSilo, and Shrinking.
