New Apple TV show Pluribus will have an official companion podcast

The new sci-fi drama Pluribus lands on Apple TV this Friday. The highly anticipated series from Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad, stars Rhea Seehorn as Carol, a woman in a world that needs saving from a contagion of happiness. Apple has been ramping up the marketing for this show significantly, clearly expecting it to be a big hit. And part of that is the announcement of a new official Apple TV companion podcast …

Apple TV has launched a few companion podcasts for some of its original series before, like Foundation and Prehistoric Planet. However, it hasn’t done one in a while, and it had somewhat seemed like the company had abandoned the idea.

For instance, the official Severance podcast was not actually produced by Apple; it was made by a third-party network called Audacy and includes third-party advertising interstitials.

But Pluribus bucks the trend. Pluribus: The Official Podcast is produced by Apple itself, and will feature behind-the-scenes discussions with the people that make the show.

Hosted by show editor Chris McCaleb, the podcast will feature conversations with Gilligan, Seehorn, writers, directors and other cast and crew members.

A new podcast installment will roll out each Friday, after the episode drops on Apple TV. Catch the premiere this Friday, November 7.
