Apple TV is currently airing one of its best sci-fi offerings ever, Pluribus, but the streamer has another acclaimed sci-fi series returning soon.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 premieres Friday, February 27 with one episode, followed by weekly releases through May 1.

The show’s first season debuted in 2023 and received very strong reviews, with critics praising the Godzilla series as skillfully centering the human story amid all the exciting, monster-infused action.

With the growth of Apple TV over the past year, fueled by popular sci-fi series like Severance and now Pluribus, Monarch should have a much bigger audience for its season 2 run.

Here’s the official summary, followed by the teaser trailer:

Season one of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” tracks two siblings looking to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell). The first season takes place in the 1950s, as well as half a century later when Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows.

Season two will pick up with the fate of Monarch — and the world — hanging in the balance. The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea. The ripple effects of the past make waves in the present day, blurring the bonds between family, friend and foe — all with the threat of a Titan event on the horizon.

You can watch the full first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters here on Apple TV.

Apple TV is available for $12.99 per month and features hit TV shows and movies like Ted LassoSeveranceThe Morning ShowSilo, and Shrinking.
