Earlier this year, Satechi introduced its OntheGo collection. As the name implies, it was a collection of travel-focused accessories designed to simplify your tech life on the go. They release charging bricks, 3 1 folding chargers, trackers, and a few other goodies. Now they are expanding that collection with the introduction of the 7 in 1 MagSafe Multiport adapter. As someone who uses their iPhone for everything from video to gaming to communicating to podcasting, this new accessory has been a great addition to the travel pack. Here is what you need to know.
OntheGo 7-in-1 Multiport Adapter
Now, the name is a mouthful, but the function is perfect for most situations. It’s about the size of a hockey puck and lighter than a deck of cards. So it’s extremely easy to throw into a bag or a pouch. It also utilizes MagSafe to attach to the rear of your iPhone, so you don’t have something just dangling from your phone. The 7 in 1 includes:
- HDMI port that supports 4k60
- 2× USB-A (5Gbps) ports
- SD and microSD card readers (up to 2TB support)
- Gigabit Ethernet for wired internet
- USB-C PD with up to 100W pass-through charging
Since it does have a magnetic base, it also includes a magnetic adhesive ring if you want to put it on the rear of your MacBook or even your iPad.

My experience
I have been able to test this hub over the last 10 days, and it has been great. It all starts with the build. As I mentioned, it features a magnetic base, but a nice detail is that it rotates very smoothly, which is great because it comes with a high-quality braided cable that unwinds from the base to then plug into the iPhone. Once plugged in, there is a small LED indicator to let you know that the hub is on and connected. So the package is nice and compact.
The ports I used most frequently were the SD card slot and the USB-A port for an external SSD. I would take photos and videos with my Sony a6100, then remove the SD card and plug it into the iPhone, while having my Lexar SSD connected. Then I could easily transfer the SD card files to the SSD without the file ever taking up space on my iPhone. It’s fantastic and so helpful, especially since I don’t have to play file management gymnastics to load anything on and off the iPhone. A little trick is to pair it with Kuxiu’s B10 power bank because it has MagSafe magnets on both sides. So it can charge your iPhone and still magnetically attach the Satechi hub!

The HDMI port and Ethernet ports I used less frequently, but it is nice to know that they work as intended. I also bring this in my everyday carry so I can use it alongside my iPad Pro to do all the same functions.
Pricing & availability
If you are in the market for a USB-C hub that is purpose-built for the iPhone but also just happens to work with your other USB-C-enabled devices, like your iPad and MacBook, then I think this one is worth considering. It’s well built, has the main ports that 90% of people are looking for and fits in any travel pack.
The OntheGo 7-in-1 Multiport Adapter is available today in space grey on Satchi’s site and on Amazon. It is $59.99. Let me know what you think. Is this something you would use? Are you on the market for a USB-C hub for your iPhone? Let’s discuss below.
