Apple TV might not have the ‘+’ in its name anymore, but they keep plussing up their offering and adding even more content to make the service better value for money. That means an Apple TV subscription is more appealing than ever.
As well as more originals, Apple is set to dramatically expand the live sports offering available on the service. Here’s what is coming to Apple TV in 2026.
Apple TV+ started in late 2019, six years ago, with a total of 7 original series and a single movie for launch day.
But in the intervening six years, the service has grown a lot. And now it has a new name: simply ‘Apple TV’. Here’s what’s coming in 2026.
More live sports included
Your Apple TV subscription will now get you more for your money, if you are a sports fan.
Perhaps most significantly, Apple TV will launch its Formula 1 coverage next year. This is available to all United States Apple TV subscribers at no extra charge. You will be able to watch the full season, including practice, qualifying sessions, and Sunday race days live and on-demand, through the Apple TV app.
Moreover, all the features of the F1TV service will also continue to be available, simply by signing in to the F1 TV app (or website) using your Apple TV account. That means all the features and content of F1 TV will remain accessible. F1 TV Premium is now just rolled into Apple TV, a service that previously cost $129 a year on its own.
If you like soccer, the Apple TV app is the exclusive home of MLS as well. This used to require a wholly separate $99 MLS Season Pass add-on to watch all games. But new for 2026, Apple has just announced that all MLS broadcasts will be available with just an Apple TV subscription as well.
That means all Apple TV subscribers can now tune in to watch all of the Major League Soccer regular season and playoff games.
In total, if you are a US customer, from next year, your Apple TV subscription will now include $209 of new value, thanks to the addition of F1 TV Premium and MLS Season Pass as part of the base subscription.
New originals every week
Premium original TV shows and movies are still at the heart of Apple TV. As the service features no back catalog content, the size of the library is always criticized.
But Apple has very consistently being premiering new originals, such that six years in, it now has over 300 original shows and movies exclusively available on Apple TV.
Its pace of releases also seems to be accelerating. In a recent interview with Screen Daily, Apple TV exec Zack Van Amburg said the company will have “a new original nearly every single week in 2026”. That means subscribers will have something new to check out on a regular basis.
In 2025, Apple released 46 new originals, still a respectable figure. But it sounds like the plan is for that number to be even higher in 2026. On that note, six 2026 premieres are already publicly announced and scheduled. It will have the theatrical blockbuster ‘F1: Movie’ available to stream in December. And 2026 should also see the return of Apple’s most popular comedy series ever, with a new season of Ted Lasso.
New bundle offers and partnerships
Of course, better value is about pricing as well as adding more content. Apple did rise the price of Apple TV to $12.99 in August. However, it is unlikely to raise the price again for a while, and — relative to the market — Apple TV is actually the cheapest ad-free service of the major US streamers, and that includes full-quality 4K HDR streaming with Dolby Atmos soundtracks.
Apple is also being more aggressive about bundling and other measures to drive adoption. For instance, while Apple TV on its own got more expensive, the Apple One bundle price did not go up as well. And in a major move, the company partnered with Comcast to launch the Apple TV Peacock bundle offer, which means US customers can subscribe to both streaming services for just $14.99 per month.
This year also saw the launch of the Apple TV app on Android, which helps onboard users that don’t fall into the typical Apple ecosystem demographics. Making Apple TV available through Prime Video also helped these efforts.
Conclusion
All of these changes combined show that Apple is serious about making Apple TV successful. It should make Apple TV increasingly sticky, which should reduce churn and improves the appeal of the Apple One bundle overall.
Ultimately, for the customer, this all means you are getting better value for money than ever before — especially if you are an F1 or MLS fan in the US.
