HomeKit Weekly: SwitchBot’s new Matter lighting lineup brings native HomeKit control with no hub required

SwitchBot continues to expand its smart home lineup, with the newest addition being a great new lighting series that works with Matter over Wi-Fi. That means you can connect lights directly to the HomeKit without needing a hub or bridge (outside of an Apple TV or HomePod). The new lineup from SwitchBot includes new RGBIC lights, a flexible neon rope light, and randomly, even a candle warmer lamp that can sync up with your existing HomeKit scenes and automation. SwitchBot has been a roll in 2025 with several new products that work great with HomeKit. Let’s dive in to what’s new.

HomeKit Weekly is a series focused on smart home accessories, automation tips and tricks, and everything to do with Apple’s smart home framework.

SwitchBot RGBIC light series

The new RGBIC series includes a floor lamp, strip light, and a neon rope light. All three devices support full color control through HomeKit once they’re onboarded using Matter over Wi-Fi. The RGBIC lights can display multiple colors at once, making them great for mood lighting, TV backlighting, or even Christmas setups. SwitchBot has added support for both RGB colors and adjustable warm and cool white tones, allowing you to transition from colorful scenes to normal lighting at your discretion. The strip light is rated IP44 for light outdoor use, making it suitable for covered outdoor areas.

For people who want simpler lighting, the RGB series includes the Floor Lamp 3 and LED Strip Light 3. These models skip the segmented color control but still include adjustable brightness, 16 preset modes, and five dynamic effects. They work similarly to the RGBIC versions in HomeKit, supporting automations, Siri control, and color changes right from the Home app.

SwitchBot neon rope light

The neon rope light is available only in North America right now, and it’s one of the more creative options in the lineup. You can bend and shape it around furniture, shelves, or signage to add custom accent lighting. Because it supports Matter, you can change the color and brightness directly in the Home app or include it in your HomeKit scenes/automations. It’s flexible, easy to install, and adds a fun personality to any room.

SwitchBot candle warmer lamp

The candle warmer lamp is the most unique product in the new lineup and one of the first of its kind to support Matter over WiFi. Instead of using a flame, it warms your candle with light, giving off the same cozy atmosphere without any fire or smoke. Because it supports Matter, you can control it in the Home app and include it in your HomeKit scenes/automations. Imagine saying, “Hey Siri, set the evening scene,” and having your lights dim and the candle warmer glow. It’s been a number of years since I’ve seen a product I had not considered before, and this is one of them.

Matter and HomeKit support

What makes this lighting lineup special is that all of the products connect directly to HomeKit using Matter over Wi-Fi. There’s no need for a SwitchBot Hub or extra bridge. You just plug them in, open the Home app, scan the Matter code, and you’re ready to go. Within a few seconds, you can add them to rooms, rename them, and include them in your existing HomeKit scenes or automations.

Because these lights use Wi-Fi instead of Thread, they don’t rely on a mesh network or require a dedicated border router. For many people, that’s a significant win, as Wi-Fi coverage is already easily available in most homes. Matter brings the same benefits of privacy, local control, and multi-platform support.

For HomeKit users, the day-to-day use feels exactly like any other native accessory. You can change colors, adjust brightness, and include the lights in automations, such as turning everything on at sunset or off when you leave the house.

Wrap up

SwitchBot continues to prove that it understands what smart home users actually want: products that work with Matter and don’t require complicated setup. This new Matter over Wi-Fi lighting series checks both boxes. You get native HomeKit control and flexible options that fit just about any space or style. It’s great to see SwitchBot continue building out its ecosystem with more Matter support. Every new release makes the platform feel a little more open and a lot more fun to use.
