Spotify planning price increase for US subscribers

Spotify is already planning its next price increase, according to a new report.

The company previously raised the price for subscribers in the U.S. last year. In several other markets, Spotify hiked prices in August.

According to the Financial Times, Spotify is planning to raise the price for subscribers in the U.S. during the first quarter of 2026. The report cites three people familiar with the planned price increase.

The FT highlights pressure from major record labels on both Apple and Spotify to raise streaming music subscription prices.

Labels are apparently unhappy with the cost of music services not increasing with inflation. Apple Music and Spotify being priced well below Netflix is another issue for the labels, according to the report.

Spotify Premium currently costs $11.99 in the U.S. while Apple Music goes for $10.99.
