IKEA says its colorful new speakers look as good as they sound

IKEA has been combining speakers with lamps for some time now, and its latest lineup includes new versions of these as well as round speakers with eye-catching graphics.

The company says its latest models with graphics created by local designer Teklan will add form, color, and character to a room …

IKEA made the announcement today.

IKEA and Tekla Evelina Severin (Teklan) present a new line of products that connect technology with personal style. Born from a collaboration that puts expression first, he line is vibrant and playful, featuring high-quality sound products with bold patterns and unexpected color combinations set to make technology a more enjoyable and visible part of the home […]

The collaboration builds on Teklan’s distinctive color language and her way of balancing playfulness with geometric form, often exploring how two- and three-dimensional design meet to create depth and movement. By combining her creative approach with IKEA’s design knowledge, the line brings color, light, and sound together in new ways — turning everyday electronics into xpressive pieces that feel natural in the home

Lamp speakers

KULGLASS are playful lamp speakers inspired by the shape of soft-serve ice cream. They are available in green and red, brown with pink.

“I wanted this inviting shape to contrast the technical complexity we usually associate with high-quality sound,” says Teklan. “While the inside is advanced, the outside feels warm, open, and easy to understand. For the colors, I was chasing a soothing feeling from the past. The mint green came from a childhood memory, and I even went to my grandparents’ home to match it to the exact shade of an old bar of soap I remembered.”

Round speakers

Two of the three new round speakers are designed to be either freestanding or wall mounted, while the third is wall-mounted only.

The SOLSKYDD family, which also comes in a clean white version outside the Teklan collaboration, is designed by Ola Wilborg for both form and acoustics.

It includes three round Bluetooth speakers, each with its own size and personality: a small portable model in orange with an eye-catching pattern, and a medium version in green with brown and beige diagonal stripes. Both can hang or stand on their accompanying bases.

The largest model, made for wall mounting, comes in an orange textured finish and can be paired with a screen. Teklan’s colorways and surface work wrap two-dimensional graphics across the fronts, creating optical effects with a sense of movement and vibrancy. All speakers can connect with each other and with other compatible IKEA Bluetooth speakers for a multi-speaker mode.

Pricing ranges from $79.99 up to $139.99. All of the new speakers will begin their global rollout in December, with US availability scheduled for January 1. The company also recently announced 21 new Matter-compatible smart home products.
