Apple now projecting iPad-designed Christmas trees onto Battersea Power Station

Last month, Apple announced a Christmas tree drawing competition for British iPad users, with winning designs to be exhibited “alongside trees drawn by established artists and notable figures”. Now, the selected trees will light up Battersea Power Station’s wash towers until December 24.

Apple’s Christmas installation at Battersea Power Station becomes tradition

According to Apple, the winners include 7-year-old Miah D.B., whose design is shown below. Their design joins 23 other winning submissions, which will be showcased with trees drawn by “established artists and notable figures such as Kylie Minogue, Sir Stephen Fry, Maro Itoje, Oliver Jeffers, David Shrigley OBE, and Chawawa”.

This competition builds on Apple’s 2023 Bigger Christmas Trees installation at Battersea Power Station, which featured designs made by artist David Hockney, and last year’s Aardman animation, which was shot with the iPhone 16 Pro Max:

In the press release announcing the winners, Apple also reinforced its broader presence across the UK:

“Apple supports more than 550,000 jobs in the UK and inaugurated its UK headquarters at London’s Battersea Power Station in 2023. The 500,000-square-foot, six-story building runs on 100 percent renewable energy, and has been designed around collaboration, inclusivity, wellness, and sustainability. In addition to Battersea Power Station, Apple also has offices at Bishopsgate in the City of London, Cambridge, St. Albans, and Swindon, alongside 39 Apple Store locations across the UK.”
