Ted Lasso returns next year, here’s the latest season 4 release update

Apple TV has a big lineup of new and returning shows in early 2026, but many viewers’ most anticipated premiere will come a little later in the year. Here’s the latest release timing update for Ted Lasso season 4.

Ted Lasso season 4 expected in mid-year 2026, per exec update

Ted Lasso has long been one of Apple TV’s most popular series. Despite being surpassed by Severance and Pluribus this year, the beloved comedy still frequently ranks high in the streamer’s top 10 charts.

And in 2026, the series will get its long-awaited return to Apple TV.

Ted Lasso season 4 officially kicked off filming this summer. Based on typical production timelines, a premiere in 2026 was widely expected.

However, subsequent comments from Warner Bros. TV head Channing Dungey provide a more narrow release window. WB TV is the production company behind the show.

Speaking to Variety, Dungey said:

We’re talking right now about mid-year next year…I would say sometime from Q2 forward.

Timing could always change, but it sounds like mid-year 2026 is the current plan for Ted Lasso season 4’s arrival.

The show’s first season hit in August 2020, and season 2 in July 2021, so a summer premiere would be nothing new for the series.

This could line up perfectly with the 2026 World Cup, which is happening during the summer. The vast majority of matches will be hosted in the US, with others split between Mexico and Canada.

Whether Ted Lasso season 4 arrives right in the middle of the World Cup action, or perhaps shortly after it concludes, the global sporting event should serve as a perfect lead-in to Apple TV’s hit series returning.
