Here’s how much a MacBook Neo repair will cost you

If you’re considering buying the new MacBook Neo, whether for yourself or a family member, it may be helpful to know how much repairs will cost. Here are the details.

Here are the prices, with and without AppleCare

As spotted by MacMagazine, the estimated service costs for the new MacBook Neo are now available.

For users without AppleCare, there is a flat fee of $149 for battery service, while other damages will require an inspection:

We’ll inspect your device to determine the final service fee. Estimated fees are for out-of-warranty service from Apple and may be subject to tax. A shipping fee may be added if we need to ship your device. Apple Authorized Service Providers can set their own service fees and will provide their own estimate.

For reference, battery service for the MacBook Air currently costs up to $199, depending on the model, while it can cost up to $249 for the MacBook Pro.

As for users covered by AppleCare, MacBook Neo service fees will be significantly lower. Here’s how they will break down:

  • Battery service: $0
  • Screen damage: $49
  • External enclosure damage: $49
  • Other accidental damage: $149

Apple reminds users that fees may be subject to tax, and adds that “for service covered by an AppleCare plan, your service fee is the same at Apple and all Apple Authorized Service Providers.”

For users who opt to cover the MacBook New with AppleCare+, the plan costs $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year, making it the cheapest AppleCare+ plan after the Mac mini.

Finally, AppleCare One subscribers can add the new MacBook Neo to their list of covered devices at no additional cost if they don’t yet have three devices in the plan, or for an extra $5.99 per month otherwise.

In that case, the MacBook Neo will be covered under the same AppleCare+ benefits included with the AppleCare One plan.
