Steve Wozniak on Apple at 50: We didn’t foresee the future, but we took the first step

“Well, it kind of started when I was born,” Steve Wozniak jokes when asked about Apple’s origin. “Steve Jobs wanted a company and he did it, and I was his resource,” Wozniak, who co-founded Apple with Jobs nearly five decades ago, adds.

Wozniak also says Apple wasn’t in the business of predicting the future. Instead, it started with a focus of creating something better than the competition.

“We didn’t foresee the future the way it turned out, but we said for today, we’re taking a step forward ahead of others.”

The comments appear in a segment that aired on CBS’s “Sunday Morning” program yesterday.

David Pogue, author of the new book Apple: The First 50 Years, interviewed Wozniak and other key players in Apple’s history for the piece.

The piece that aired on CBS includes a portion of Pogue’s interview with Apple CEO Tim Cook. The full 20-minute interview, in which Cook says Apple today is in a party of one, was published separately over the weekend.

The new book Apple: The First 50 Years comes out tomorrow. For another way to enjoy the book, Amazon just released a cheaper Audible audiobook subscription plan for $8.99/month.
