Apple Invites widget just got a smart and useful improvement

Apple has released a new version of its Invites app, adding a smart and useful improvement to the iPhone app’s widget.

Starting with today’s version 1.7 update, Apple Invites includes the option to let the countdown widget work with any upcoming event.

A smarter countdown widget

“Invites countdown widget now features a ‘Next Upcoming’ option to count down automatically to your next closest event, updating as each event passes,” according to the release notes.

Apple Invites widgets can still be set to manually countdown to specific events as well.

Apple first introduced the countdown iPhone widget back in August. Now the widget is more versatile with a bit of an auto-pilot function included.

Apple Invites arrived as an iCloud+ feature in February 2025. A year later, the electronic invitation app is still iPhone-only, although it has received several feature improvements and content refreshes.
