The LEGO Apple Store has moved one step closer to reality

Last May, I wrote about a proposed LEGO Apple Store that was entered into LEGO’s ‘Ideas’ initiative. Now, that proposal has moved one step closer to reality.

Proposed LEGO Apple Store moving to official ‘Review’ phase

LEGO users @legotruman and @2A2A hope to one day see an Apple Store LEGO set become a real product.

They created a concept for LEGO Ideas, and it has since gained over 10,000 supporters.

That qualifies it to move forward from LEGO’s ‘Idea’ stage into what it calls ‘Review.’

As my colleague Michael Bower said, “First time anyone has ever been happy about a bricked Apple product.”

Here’s the explainer for the review phase:

A “LEGO Review Board” composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We’ll build concept models and determine if the concept meets our high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product. This includes factors such as playability, safety, and fit with the LEGO brand. Every potential LEGO product goes through a process like this and must meet the same standards.

There is, of course, a very important disclaimer not mentioned.

If a LEGO Apple Store were to ever move forward, it would need Apple’s sign-off.

Would Apple ever approve of such a product? It’s hard to say. LEGO has a strong brand, so it’s possible Apple might find itself flattered to have the Apple Store memorialized in bricks.

Personally, I wouldn’t count on the product ever becoming a real thing. But it sure would be fun if it did.

Would you buy this LEGO set if it were available, and do you think Apple will ever allow it? Let us know in the comments.
