Microsoft Outlook outage enters hours-long stretch with no resolution

Everybody’s working for the weekend, but Microsoft Outlook clocked out early. The mission-critical email service is facing a widespread, hours-long outage.

Microsoft says the Outlook outage means mailbox access may be unavailable for Outlook.com, Outlook Mobile, and Outlook desktop apps. The company also says that it’s working on a fix.

We’ve begun a broad expedited deployment of the configuration change across all affected infrastructure. We expect most impacted users will experience relief within the next two hours, as the fix saturates the environment. We’re closely monitoring service health telemetry to ensure the recovery continues as expected. We understand how impactful incidents of this type can be, and we’re continuing to open any additional workstreams to expedite recovery and restore availability.

According to Downdetector, users started reporting the issue more than five hours ago. Currently, around 2400 reports have been filed on the outage-tracking website.

If you’re having trouble with Microsoft Outage, err.. Outlook, you’re not alone. You can check the latest Outlook outage status here.
