‘Pluribus’ is a brand new sci-fi series coming soon from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan. Here’s everything we know about Pluribus so far, including Apple TV+ release date, cast, plot summary, and more.
Pluribus is a mysterious new sci-fi drama coming soon to Apple TV+
One of the most anticipated Apple TV+ premieres this fall is the long-gestating new series from Vince Gilligan.
Pluribus will premiere on Friday, November 7 with its first two episodes on Apple TV+, followed by weekly releases through December 26.
The show has been years in the making, with Apple first announcing it back in 2022.
Gilligan is best known for creating Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Now, Pluribus provides the opportunity to reunite Gilligan with Better Call Saul’s Rhea Seehorn.
Seehorn plays the lead in Pluribus, a character who is “the most miserable person on Earth” and “must save the world from happiness.”
Apple has set up a phone number you can call for a voice message, and a prompt to opt into text alerts. All of these alerts assume you are ‘Carol,’ the name of Seehorn’s character.
What we know about ‘Pluribus’: Genre, location, cast, teaser, and more
Apple TV+ seems to be leaning hard into cryptic, Severance-style marketing with Pluribus.
On one hand that means there’s a lot we don’t yet know about the series. But it also makes the few nuggets that have been revealed even more noteworthy.
Pluribus is billed as a sci-fi drama, but Apple also calls it a “genre-bending original.” It’s set in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Teasing the show with Variety in 2023, Gilligan said Pluribus has “no crime, and no methamphetamine.”
“The world changes very abruptly in the first episode, and then it is quite different,” Gilligan adds. “And the consequences that that reaps hopefully provide drama for many, many episodes after that.”
Gilligan has also described Rhea Seehorn’s character, per Deadline:
“I’m excited for audiences to see Rhea play a very different character than the character she played on Better Call Saul,” said Gilligan, adding, “She plays someone who’s trying very hard to be good. She’s a bit of a damaged hero, but she’s a hero nonetheless.”
Seehorn commented on what to expect from Pluribus’ genre:
“Definitely more toward the psychological sci-fi,” Seehorn said. “We’re not in space. There’s no E.T. Vince is a huge fan of ‘The Twilight Zone,’ so I do think there’s an element of commentary on our life as it is now, but making you look at it through a different lens because of something that is not the way it is right now.”

Pluribus season 2 is already confirmed
In a rare move, Apple has already confirmed that Pluribus is getting a season 2.
The streamer’s initial deal with Gilligan included a two-season order, but it’s not often that Apple will officially announce a second season before the first premieres.
In the official Apple TV+ press release unveiling Pluribus, however, the second season is explicitly referenced as in the works.
Here’s hoping that means if Pluribus truly does become a Severance-style hit, we won’t have to wait nearly as long for a second season as we did for Severance.
