AirPods Pro 3 release date: When to expect the new model’s launch

Three years after AirPods Pro 2 first debuted, Apple is nearly ready to unveil the popular product’s successor. Here’s the expected release date for AirPods Pro 3.

AirPods Pro 3 expected to launch in mid-September

Apple recently announced September 9 as the date for its iPhone 17 event.

This date is important for AirPods users too, because Apple has historically introduced new AirPods models during its annual September event.

Last year brought AirPods 4 and AirPods Max with USB-C. And AirPods Pro 2 launched in 2022 during the iPhone event.

Bloomberg recently reported that AirPods Pro 3 are coming this fall. That makes them a near-certainty for the September 9 event.

Based on Apple’s prior patterns, here’s what we’re expecting for the AirPods Pro 3 release date:

  • Announced: Tuesday, September 9
  • Pre-orders: Friday, September 12
  • Release date: Friday, September 19

This mirrors what we’re expecting for the iPhone 17 line, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and other September 9 announcements.

Apple could always surprise us and do something different. But out of all the company’s launches, new September products tend to follow a very strict pattern that changes very little from year to year.

New features rumored for AirPods Pro 3

What new features are coming with AirPods Pro 3?

Rumors so far indicate we’ll get a brand new H3 chip, which will likely enable improved audio features—both at launch and in future firmware updates.

More powerful active noise cancellation is expected too.

There’s reportedly a new design coming, but it may be pretty minor based on leaks around what’s changing with the AirPods Pro 3 charging case.

Heart rate monitoring is another rumored tentpole feature, following its introduction on Powerbeats Pro 2.

Apple is also expected to announce Live Translation support for AirPods Pro 3. But based on leaks, the feature will likely be available for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 as well.
