macOS Tahoe 26.1 public beta 2 now available

One day after releasing macOS Tahoe 26.1 developer beta 2, Apple is now rolling out the second wave of public betas. Here’s what to expect.

The build rolling out right now is 25B5057f, which is the same as yesterday’s developer beta.

macOS Tahoe 26.1 is expected to bring performance improvements and bug fixes, lay the groundwork for Apple’s rollout of MCP support across all its platforms, as well as third-party support for AI models beyond ChatGPT on Image Playground.

How to install macOS Tahoe 26.1 public beta 2

To install, the first thing you have to do is enroll in Apple’s public beta program at https://beta.apple.com/. Once you’re done, here’s the step-by-step:

  • Open System Settings
  • Go to General ⇾ Software Update
  • Click the ‘i’ icon next to Beta Updates
  • From the dropdown menu in the top-right, select the macOS Tahoe 26 Public Beta
  • Hit ‘Done’
