Mimms Museum to celebrate Apple’s 50th anniversary with immersive exhibition

Formerly known as the Computer Museum of America, Roswell’s Mimms Museum of Technology and Art will officially open “iNSPIRE: 50 Years of Innovation from Apple” to the public on April 1st. Here are the details.

With Apple just days away from celebrating its 50th anniversary on April 1st, the Mimms Museum of Technology decided to pick this exact date to open to the public a new, permanent collection, called “iNSPIRE: 50 Years of Innovation from Apple.”

With more than 2,000 “original artifacts, prototypes and unique documents from Apple’s extraordinary journey,” the exhibition will offer immersive and interactive experiences spanning the company’s first five decades.

Some of these artifacts can be seen on the exhibition’s website, including Apple employee badges and name tags, and a handwritten spec sheet for the Apple I (then named Apple Computer-1), signed by Steve Jobs.

The 20,000+ square foot exhibition also features an interactive iPod experience where visitors can dance in front of a camera and see themselves transformed into one of the dancing silhouettes from Apple’s classic 2003 iPod campaign.
