As 9to5Mac reported on Tuesday, iOS 14 code indicates that Apple is working on changes to the iPhone home screen, including a new list view.

Instead of just the grid of app icons, there will be a new page or new mode so users can look at their apps in a top-to-bottom scrolling list. Now, some intrepid readers have made mockups of what that might look like.

A report from AppleInsider shines a light on how Apple’s staff are not adequately trained and prepared to deal with Mac Pro problems. Their production Mac Pro started exhibiting issues, but found the Apple support experience less than satisfactory.

In a clear case of Apple Stores not being ready to service the Mac Pro effectively, the report describes how one Apple Store Genius tried to power the machine by plugging a MacBook PRO USB-C charger into one of the Mac Pro’s Thunderbolt ports.

Analyst expects 5G iPhone and iPhone SE 2 launch delays as coronavirus disruption continues

Chinese OLED iPhone displays closer

Over the weekend, Bank of America analysts released a report predicting that the flagship 5G iPhone series could be delayed by a month as another example of the COVID-19 coronavirus impact on the supply chain.

Apple’s flagship iPhones usually debut in September; the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro were released on 20 September 2019. However, some models have previously launched in late October/early November (iPhone XR / iPhone X). As the production of iPhone 12 continues to be held up, the September launch window is looking increasingly unlikely.

Apple tells employees to ‘work remotely if your job allows’ this week, announces other anti-coronavirus measures

Apple is telling employees to work from home this week if their job allows for it. Workers at Apple Park were told not to come to work on Friday, and now this policy has been expanded to cover Apple offices in California, Seattle, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. This represents most — but not all — of Apple’s corporate locations.

The new policy was first reported by Bloomberg, and has now been confirmed by Apple itself. In line with announcements from other tech companies, Apple says it will continue to pay hourly contract workers their normal wages.

Apple recommending Apple Park employees to work from home today due to coronavirus concerns

According to a report from Business Insider, Apple is telling employees at its Cupertino campuses, Apple Park and Infinite Loop, that it recommends working from home today as an “additional precaution” (via Mark Gurman).

Further details on the policy are not clear at this time. Many divisions of Apple may struggle to do their jobs remotely effectively, which is perhaps why this is a recommendation rather than a requirement at this stage. Apple is yet to confirm the arrangements publicly.

Oppo officially unveils its first smartwatch with its own ‘signature design’ that may just be a tad familiar

OPPO has made an ascendancy in recent years with its high-spec low-price smartphones, and now the company is making its break into the smartwatch market with its Apple Watch clone, err I mean, competitor.

The OPPO Watch was announced at an event in China today; the company touted its signature design, curved AMOLED display, health features, built-in cellular and its range of rubber or leather bands. The OPPO Watch goes on sale later this month in China, obviously not to be confused with the similar-looking  — and similar-sounding — Apple Watch.

Digitimes: iPhone SE 2 (iPhone 9?) component orders delayed due to coronavirus disruption

Coronavirus threatens production of iPhone 9/SE 2

In a pair of Digitimes reports, the supply-chain focused publication suggests that the launch of Apple’s next phone model may be a little further off. The iPhone 9, or iPhone SE 2, whatever you want to call it, has apparently reached the final stage of production verification.

However, this means that a formal release could still be weeks away. Additionally, Digitimes reports that PCB orders for the iPhone SE 2 have been delayed from the first quarter to the second quarter, again suggesting a schedule pushback.
