iPhone 11 review roundup: impressive Night Mode, ultra-wide camera is a useful addition, great price

The iPhone 11 Pro has garnered most of the attention, featuring its three-camera system, and you can see general thoughts specific to that model in our roundup.

However, the iPhone 11 is the phone that almost all the technology reviewers say is the one you should buy. The iPhone 11 packs in most of the iPhone 11 Pro’s improvements, at a price that is the cheapest we’ve seen for a new iPhone for more than three years…

Multiple camera simultaneous recording coming to iPhone XS and iPhone XR, not just iPhone 11

At its event last week, Apple previewed a new version of Filmic Pro running on the iPhone 11 Pro. It was a compelling demo, with the app able to record from multiple cameras simultaneously, like recording the front and back camera together, or filming using the new ultra-wide and standard wide cameras for additional coverage.

However, the good news is that simultaneous multi-cam sessions are not only available on the iPhone 11. The feature is also supported by the iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and the 2018 iPad Pro…

Kuo: iPhone 11 demand better than expectations, stronger interest for new color options

iPhone 11 Pro front and back

Respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a report late on Sunday that said he believes iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro order demand is ahead of expectations, following the launch of preorders on Friday.

Basing his predictions largely off of Apple’s online shipping estimates, Kuo points out strong demand for the new colors: the midnight green iPhone 11 Pro, and the green and purple iPhone 11 models. He also warns that production problems of the glass for the midnight green phone means availability of that model is currently constrained.

iPhone 11 Pro front and back

The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max go up for preorder tomorrow. At the event, Apple touted the A13 Bionic as its fastest yet, and now we have more visibility into what that means.

A Geekbench report supposedly shows that the iPhone 11 Pro CPU is about 15% faster than the iPhone XS. The benchmark also says that the chip has 4 GB of RAM; the same amount found in iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. However, this number is disputed…

Comment: Apple surprised on price from Apple TV+ to iPhone and Apple Watch

Apple has had a reputation over the last few years of becoming increasingly expensive. Across 2018 especially, some events infamously saw every product see a base price rise by 10-20%.

This time around though, Apple bucked the trend. From its services to its hardware, Apple maintained or reduced prices. The company was particularly aggressive with lowering prices of its generation-old devices.

iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro improves on iPhone XR stellar battery life

Over the last year, Apple made a big deal about how the iPhone XR offers the longest battery life ever in an iPhone. Customers appeared to love it too, with even many tech reviewers choosing the XR over its more expensive siblings due to the extra hours of longevity.

Now, all the new phones, from iPhone 11 to iPhone 11 Pro, best what the XR could manage. However, Apple has changed up how it measures battery life which makes it a little complicated to compare between models…

Apple adjusted App Store algorithm to reduce presence of its own apps in search results

Apple App Store antitrust case is nuanced revenue

In an interview with the New York Times, Apple executives Phil Schiller and Eddy Cue revealed that Apple has adjusted the App Store algorithm to ‘handicap’ its own apps from appearing too much in search results.

Following press attention from the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, Apple found that the App Store was deciding to show a lot of Apple apps for common search terms. For instance, a search for ‘music’ would show not only Apple Music but up to seven other first-party apps in the first ten spots.
