The ideal HomeKit accessories run themselves. Turning off and on lights from an app is a nice feature, but it’s a similar level of effort to using a light switch. The real magic is when you can “set it and forget it.” The THIRDREALITY Smart Color Night Light is the perfect example of this reality when you need a night light for a kid’s room or to light up a hallway/stairwell at night. Once installed, you can turn on an automation and never think about it again.

I’ve used Ubiquiti products at home and in the workplace for many years. As I mentioned in previous articles, they started at the lower end of the networking market, and they’ve slowly been working their way up to higher-end products at prices that bigger companies cannot match.
A product category that has long needed a fresh look is network-attached storage. Ubiquiti has now taken the simplicity they brought to the network market to the NAS market with UNAS Pro.

I’ve owned Apple’s original MagSafe charger for many years at this point, and for all of Apple’s faults with cable builds over the years, it’s held up really well. There’s been zero fraying or stripping. I suspect a lot of this is the very nature of how you connect MagSafe to a device versus plugging in a cable, but the proof is in the pudding. Apple finally upgraded the cable to support faster charging, so let’s take a look at Apple’s newest MagSafe charging cable.

The initial macOS 15 Sequoia released caused significant disruptions for users relying on cybersecurity tools like Endpoint Detection and Response solutions and VPN apps. Following the upgrade, multiple reports emerged about broken functionalities, explicitly blaming macOS systems’ security and network reliability. Check out 9to5Mac’s Security Bite for more information on what broke, but today, I want to look at who’s to blame.
Of all the smart home products I’ve tried over the years, one stands out as making the biggest impact in my life day to day while also giving me the type of automation that was only available in the movies previously. When Apple releases a new operating system for macOS and iOS, it’s an excellent time to evaluate if your current management solution meets your needs. Device management systems are the critical solution in your Apple deployment and play a vital role in ensuring that all devices, whether company-owned or BYOD, are secure, compliant, and easily managed. During an evaluation, there may come a time when your organization needs to migrate to a new MDM solution. This can be a challenging task, but with careful planning and execution, it can be done fairly smoothly.
I’ve been a fan of SwitchBot for a few years now. They make some fun and unique smart home products. One of my favorites is the SwitchBot button pusher. It’s an easy way to make anything “smart” without needing to modify it at all. At the heart of SwitchBot is its Hub ecosystem, though. The SwitchBot Hub Mini is a great place to start, now including Matter support.
