Addigy MDM Watchdog

For managed service providers (MSPs) and IT administrators working with the Department of Defense or its contractors, staying compliant with cybersecurity rules isn’t just important—it’s essential. Yet, ensuring compliance with standards like the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) has traditionally been a time-consuming, complex process. 23 Years of the iPod: How Elite Obsolete Electronics keeps the music playing

Elite Obsolete Electronics

There’s probably enough material to produce a book about the importance of the iPod to Apple’s history (and revenue). Yet, the company said goodbye to the brand in 2022 as it finally discontinued the last edition of the iPod Touch. There is a small but growing community committed to keeping the dream alive. Elite Obsolete Electronics is one of the companies that saw growing Reddit communities dedicated to the iPod and the iPod Classic. I recently chatted with the owner, Austin Lucas, about the company and its success.

The FIDO Alliance has taken a big step toward improving the usability of passkeys by introducing two new draft specs: the Credential Exchange Protocol (CXP) and the Credential Exchange Format (CXF). These proposals are designed to solve a key issue slowing the adoption of passkeys in the enterprise: vendor lock-in. While Passkeys bring a solid alternative to traditional passwords, their current implementation leaves users stuck to specific platforms or password managers, making it difficult to switch between services without completely redoing the Passkey setup.

HomeKit Weekly: THIRDREALITY Smart Color Night Light is the perfect HomeKit accessory for a child’s room or hallway

THIRDREALITY smart night light

The ideal HomeKit accessories run themselves. Turning off and on lights from an app is a nice feature, but it’s a similar level of effort to using a light switch. The real magic is when you can “set it and forget it.” The THIRDREALITY Smart Color Night Light is the perfect example of this reality when you need a night light for a kid’s room or to light up a hallway/stairwell at night. Once installed, you can turn on an automation and never think about it again.

I’ve used Ubiquiti products at home and in the workplace for many years. As I mentioned in previous articles, they started at the lower end of the networking market, and they’ve slowly been working their way up to higher-end products at prices that bigger companies cannot match.

A product category that has long needed a fresh look is network-attached storage. Ubiquiti has now taken the simplicity they brought to the network market to the NAS market with UNAS Pro.

MagSafe Monday: Is Apple’s new fast charging cable the best MagSafe charger?

MagSafe Monday

I’ve owned Apple’s original MagSafe charger for many years at this point, and for all of Apple’s faults with cable builds over the years, it’s held up really well. There’s been zero fraying or stripping. I suspect a lot of this is the very nature of how you connect MagSafe to a device versus plugging in a cable, but the proof is in the pudding. Apple finally upgraded the cable to support faster charging, so let’s take a look at Apple’s newest MagSafe charging cable.
