Around my city, Halloween almost brings out as many “all in” people as Christmas when it comes to decorations. In fact, one house near me starts setting up in August and then keeps it going through Christmas, just dressing the Halloween-themed skeletons in Santa hats to carry them into the next holiday. If you’re still turning on all of your Halloween decorations manually, it’s time to automate that using HomeKit.

MagSafe batteries are one of my favorite types of accessories because they let you keep your iPhone charged without needing to find a wall adapter (verbal meme: zombies, but it’s tech people looking for a wall plug) The new CP12 MagSafe Power Bank has a 10,000mAh battery, offers 20W wired charging, 7.5W MagSafe charging, and even includes a built in cable for when you want to charge a bit faster. It is not the slimmest battery, but it gives you plenty of flexibility for travel, commuting, or just making sure your iPhone lasts all day.

Apple’s footprint in the enterprise has steadily expanded, but healthcare is where the impact can feel the most personal. At Emory Healthcare, Apple devices are now the foundation of care delivery. Emory Hillandale is the nation’s first hospital fully powered by Apple products, with Macs, iPads, iPhones, and Apple Watches deployed throughout the hospital to run Epic Hyperspace and support patient care. One of the most important aspects of this rollout is that Epic is now a native macOS app.
Video doorbells are one of the most popular ways to start building a smart home, and Apple users have a great option that works with HomeKit Secure Video. The Aqara G410 Doorbell Camera takes that foundation and adds even more. It records in 2K (not supported by iCloud), supports HomeKit Secure Video, and doubles as a smart home hub with Matter and Zigbee built in.

MagSafe wallets usually lean toward being slim, but SUPCASE continues to go the other direction with function over form. The SUPCASE MagSafe Wallet with AirTag Holder is thicker than most MagSafe wallets, but in exchange you get more storage, AirTag support, and a built-in stand.

Starting around 2012, I told anyone who would listen that identity was the key problem for IT. I’ve been proven right, and companies have built great solutions in the years since. That does not mean it is a completely solved problem, though. Cisco Duo’s 2025 State of Identity Security report highlights that the risks are growing faster than many IT teams are prepared to handle. AI-driven phishing, identity spoofing, and internal leaks are forcing companies to rethink authentication and access. What was once an afterthought in infrastructure planning now must be treated as a core security function from the beginning, especially for Apple fleets.
I love being able to control my smart home from the Home app, Control Center (my most used right now), or by asking Siri via a HomePod, but sometimes you just can’t beat a physical product for things. For my Matter enabled shades, I use the remote as much as I control them with the Home app. There are moments when pressing a button or turning a dial is easier than pulling out your iPhone. That’s exactly why the SwitchBot Hub 3 is an awesome product, and it’s something I want Apple to copy with the “HomePad”.

As the weather cools down and fall hiking season ramps up, I always think about what gear makes sense to carry. A MagSafe wallet is one of those things that feels like it should be as versatile as your iPhone itself. The Pelican MagSafe Wallet & Card Holder is a perfect option when you want something rugged that can handle the outdoors but still works as an EDC.

Apple has been building toward Declarative Device Management for a few years, but at WWDC 2025 earlier this summer, it became clear that the transition is over. DDM is not a future concept or an option for Apple fleets. It is now how Apple expects organizations to manage updates, apps, and policies across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Vision Pro. This is a technical and mental change and a vendor litmus test for IT teams. If your device management provider is not fully committed to DDM, Apple just gave you a reason to start planning your transition and the tools to do so.
SwitchBot released its Evaporative Humidifier last year, and it’s now even better thanks to newly upgraded firmware that includes Matter 1.4 support. The update brings faster setup and better cross-platform compatibility for a device type that is typucally stuck as a “dumb appliance” in your house.

If you don’t carry a MagSafe wallet with your iPhone, there might be situations when you want a simple stand for travel, increased grip, stand at your desk, etc. The UAG Magnetic Ring Stand falls into that category. It gives you a better grip on your iPhone, doubles as a kickstand, and still slides in your pocket without getting in the way. Let’s take a look at what it offers.

Apple IT teams have long struggled with the balance between local admins accounts on macOS and static or shared passwords across multiple devices. On one hand, these accounts are generally needed for updates, troubleshooting, and device recovery, but on the other, a static or shared password across multiple devices is a security problem waiting to happen. If someone leaves, you really should update them, but I suspect this often doesn’t happen. EasyLAPS aims to solve that problem by automatically rotating and securely storing each Mac’s local admin password in your device management system (more on how later). It’s a set-it-and-forget-it approach that removes one of enterprise Mac deployments’ most common weak points.
Home Key has been one of my favorite HomeKit features since it launched a few years ago. You never have to dig for keys; you can still get in when your phone battery is dead, and in my experience, it works instantly every time. There is no app to launch or waiting for a Bluetooth connection. The new ULTRALOQ Bolt NFC brings all of that convenience to more homes at a very reasonable price point.
Addigy has long been known for its Apple device management service, but its new Security Suite aims to offer additional solutions for IT teams and managed service providers. By combining Addigy’s device management service platform with SentinelOne EDR and MDR, IT teams can have a single console for compliance, endpoint protection, and 24/7 threat defense for their macOS fleets.

MagSafe wallets are probably the category of MagSafe that makes the most sense to me day to day. I am always going to carry a wallet, so might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone. The UAG Metropolis Wallet is one of the better designed ones I’ve come across from a quality standpoint, so let’s dive into what all it offers.

For many Mac admins, the ideal balance between security and productivity comes down to how you handle local admin rights on your fleet. Too much access creates risk. Too little access creates daily annoyance. Apple has done a great job of making it so you can operate as a Standard User day to day, but there are times when local admin rights are needed. SAP’s Privileges app has been a popular way to thread that needle by letting users elevate themselves to admin status when needed, and then return to a standard user when they are done. It gives IT teams more control while giving end users the ability to solve their own problems without waiting for a help desk ticket to be approved.
With the release of Privileges 2.4, SAP is adding new tools that make it even more flexible and reliable in enterprise environments.
Since Apple introduced home key, it has quickly become one of the most important features for smart locks. Basic HomeKit support just doesn’t cut it anymore. Unlocking your front door with just a tap from an iPhone or Apple Watch feels magical, and once you’ve experienced it, it’s hard to imagine going back to keys or even an app. Level was one of the first companies to embrace home key, and now it’s back with its most advanced product yet: the Level Lock Pro. It’s the smallest smart lock you can buy, it disappears into your door (doesn’t look like a smart lock at all), and it has Matter over Thread built in.
For nearly two decades, Parallels has been one of the go to solutions for running Windows on the Mac, and with version 26 the company is doubling down on both sides of that equation while making it easier to deploy at work. Parallels Desktop 26 arrives with day one support for macOS 26 Tahoe and Windows 11 25H2, along with a strong set of IT focused improvements that make it easier to manage virtual machines at scale.
