Sketchy report claims Pegatron has received 15% of orders for Apple’s 4.7-inch iPhone 6

Screen Shot 2014-05-07 at 2.13.06 AM

At this point, we’ve seen just above every rumored schematic, mockup, and render of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6. Rumors suggest that Apple will launch its next generation flagship smartphone in 4.7-inch and possibly 5.5-inch variations later this year.

According to the Industrial and Commercial Times (via Macotakara), Apple’s supplier Pegatron has recently received 15 percent of the orders to manufacture the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. The report goes on to note that in total, Pegatron has plans to produce 50 million iPhones throughout the year. This contradicts an equally-sketchy rumor from January, which claimed Pegatron was set to handle half of the production for the iPhone 6.

Another iPhone 6 mockup shown off in new photos, now in Space Gray

Screen Shot 2014-05-05 at 8.24.22 AM

More images of an iPhone 6 mockup have recently been published via NoWhereElse. At this point, publishing these dummy models has become somewhat of a daily ritual, but they are definitely interesting to look at.

If it means anything, these are definitely the most detailed iPhone 6 dummy models that we’ve seen to date. Like previous mockups, there’s nothing special to see here, but if these models are designed around the rumored specifications, it may give us an idea of what’s coming down the line later this year.

Review: Blue Microphones’ Spark Digital may be the best USB/Lightning mic for the money (Video)

Screen Shot 2014-04-30 at 4.26.40 AM

When you think of a USB microphone, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? For myself, I tend to picture a subpar microphone that would normally be used for Skype calls or other basic tasks. Of course, these microphones have come a long way in recent years, but nothing makes this more evident than Blue Microphones’ Spark Digital condenser microphone.

Apple’s MacBook Air lineup updated with faster Haswell processors, now starts at $899

Screen Shot 2014-04-29 at 1.33.07 AM

In line with our recent scoops, Apple has updated its MacBook Air lineup early this morning. The refresh features the slightly updated Intel’s Haswell processor and all models are now priced $100 less than the previous models. The design is exactly the same and we don’t expect any significant changes to the MacBook Air lineup until later this year.

You won’t find much different here, but the 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air models have been bumped up to a 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage in the low-end configurations and 256GB of storage in the top 11-inch and 13-inch models. These baseline models are configurable with built-to-order options up to a 1.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i7, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of flash storage. Apple did give one particular spec a slight boost however…

Review: Stride 2 jailbreak tweak brings a customizable gesture-based passcode to iOS 7 devices

stride9to5

If you’ve been around the jailbreak community for a while, it’s possible that you’re familiar with the popular iOS 5/6 gesture-based lock screen tweak Stride. This tweak worked as a lock screen passcode alternative and allowed users to set a custom gesture to unlock an iOS device.

Created by the popular tweak developer Adam Bell, Stride is making a comeback and is fully compatible with iOS 7 devices. This exciting release provides a very similar experience, but has been given a very clean makeover. This results in a beautiful native-like iOS 7 gesture-based lock screen and I just can’t get enough of it.

Apple’s fix for FaceTime woes in iOS 6? Upgrade to iOS 7

facetime_hero

Apple has released a new support document explaining some of the issues that iOS 6 users have experienced lately when trying to make FaceTime calls. Along with an explanation, there’s finally a fix in sight that’s also detailed on the support page. What’s the fix? Update to iOS 7.

First spotted by MacRumors, the support document informs users of a pretty obvious solution to the problem. If you’re using a device that supports iOS 7, you’ll need to update to the latest version of iOS 7. If the device in question isn’t compatible with iOS 7, update to iOS 6.1.6 to resolve the FaceTime bug.

New video compares alleged iPhone 6 case to iPhone 5s, Nexus 5, and Galaxy Note 3

Screen Shot 2014-04-23 at 1.32.26 PM

A new video published by Unbox Therapy provides a closer look at an alleged third-party case for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6 that was recently shown off in a set of photos. The case’s design definitely falls in line with previous leaks and rumors that we’ve reported on, but could be a manufacturer’s attempt to take a risk and get ahead of the game.

The video below compares the case’s design to the iPhone 5s, Nexus 5, and Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Surprisingly, the case’s layout almost lines up perfectly with Google’s Nexus 5, which gives us a good idea of the iPhone 6’s overall form-factor if the leaked specifications used to manufacture this case are correct.

Review: Cogito Pop smartwatch for iOS (video)

cogito_homepage_banner_1

When you put the word “smart” in front of anything, most people tend to think that it’s going to be some kind of advanced product. Most smartwatches on the market have a display and offer a simplified (or detailed) look at information from your smartphone along with access to third-party apps and services.

CONNECTEDEVICE is the company that’s trying to put the “watch” back in smartwatch. What if your smartwatch was created with the primary purpose of showing the time? Well, that’s exactly what the Cogito Pop does. It offers style and functionality, but don’t expect anything fancy here. The Cogito Pop puts notifications on the back burner, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Next-gen iPad Air front panel with integrated display reportedly shown in leaked photos

OMT-ipad

New photos that reportedly show the front panel of a next-generation iPad Air have surfaced. Originally shared by One More Thing, the front panel appears to have an integrated display. This notable change could result in an even thinner iPad Air, or leave room for Apple to rework the hardware and add additional components.

Alleged iPhone 6 cases reflect rumored design changes, repositioned power button

Etui-Silicone-iPhone-6-06

We’re still months away from Apple’s expected announcement of the iPhone 6, but ambitious manufactures are already designing accessories based on current rumors. Additional silicon cases rumored to fit the iPhone 6 were recently published on NoWhereElse and provide a closer look at some of the device’s possible design changes.

The case pictured above has slightly rounded edges, similar to the 5th generation iPod touch or iPhone 5c, and are consistent with previous rumors. As we’ve seen in recent accessory leaks, the case also features a repositioned power button and thin oblong volume buttons similar to an iPod touch. It has also been rumored that Apple’s iPhone 6 will feature a larger 4.7-inch display.

New report corroborates rumors of LG iWatch display, multiple display sizes, late 2014 release

2014041502010151742002_59_20140415142709

According to a recent report from Korean publication Naver, LG is once again rumored to be the sole supplier of flexible displays for Apple’s upcoming iWatch. First discovered by GforGames, the report seems to back up a rumor from January suggesting that LG would be supplying a 1.52-inch plastic OLED display for Apple.

Naver also indicates that Apple will launch its iWatch in both 1.3-inch and 1.5-inch sizes, which corroborates previous rumors that the device will ship in different sizes for men and women. Naver goes on to report that Apple intends to sell up to 9 million iWatch units and plans to launch the device later this year.
