WhatsApp last year introduced the option to let users send “HD photos,” keeping their original resolution with lower compression. However, users had to choose the HD option every time they sent a photo to someone – but not anymore. That’s because WhatsApp is rolling out a new option to set the option to send HD photos as the default.

We’re still digging into all the new features coming with iOS 18, which was announced earlier this week at WWDC 2024. We’ve just reported on the update letting users choose their preferred Home Hub, but now there’s another significant change coming, especially for HomePod owners. With iOS 18, users can finally stream Spatial Audio over AirPlay.

Apple TV and HomePod owners have the option of setting up these devices as a Home Hub to control HomeKit and Matter accessories remotely. However, while you can set up multiple devices as Home Hubs, there’s no option to choose a specific hub as the main one. But that’s changing with iOS 18 and tvOS 18, which finally give users this option.

As we previously covered, watchOS 11 brings new fitness and health features to the Apple Watch. However, the update also comes with some welcome changes, such as the addition of Live Activities. First introduced with iOS 16, Live Activities are now coming to the Apple Watch with watchOS 11.

TestFlight is an Apple platform that allows developers to distribute their beta apps to users outside the App Store. Following the WWDC 2024 announcements this week, which include iOS 18 and macOS 15 Sequoia, Apple has teased a major update coming to TestFlight later this year.

Apple has added satellite capabilities to the iPhone 14 models in 2022 to enable a new feature called Emergency SOS via Satellite, which lets users contact emergency services in areas with no cellular service. At the time, the company said that customers could try the service for free for two years – but the trial period was later extended to 2025.

Now with iOS 18, iPhone users can even send SMS via satellite. But will Apple keep this service free forever?

Now the government of Japan has passed a similar law that will also force the company to allow App Marketplaces for Japanese iOS users.

iOS 18 comes with new features like a new customizable Home Screen and Apple Intelligence. And as we previously covered, users can even replace the flashlight and camera buttons on the Lock Screen with iOS 18. However, Apple has also made a new API that gives camera apps special privileges when added to the Lock Screen.
