The team behind Moment has announced a new Kickstarter campaign today to help launch three new products. Moment has a long history of using Kickstarter to fund their projects going back to 2014 when they launched their original lenses, and then eventually their Moment Case in 2015. Today’s new campaign includes an update to their now classic lens alongside two new cases for iPhone users.
After scanning through the binary codes of applications in the iOS App Store, Will Strafach’s verify.ly service has detected that 76 popular apps in the store are currently vulnerable to data interception. The interception is possible regardless if App Store developers are using App Transport Security or not. A few months ago, similar vulnerabilities were discovered with Experian and myFICO Mobile’s iOS apps.

Snapchat and Spectacles’ parent company Snap Inc. has just filed for a $3 billion initial public offering with the SEC. According to the Wall Street Journal, Snap Inc’s IPO is set to be the largest technology IPO since the Alibaba Group Holding Ltd debut.
When Apple released iOS 10 last September, they pushed in a small change when connecting to wireless networks. Tucked away under the Wi-Fi settings, iOS now warns users when connecting to insecure networks that it exposes a user’s network traffic. The easy answer to this is to simply not connect to public wireless networks, but that’s something that most people will just ignore. If users won’t stop connecting to insecure public networks, they could at least start using VPNs and Apple could make it easy to do that.

Upwork, a website dedicated to connecting freelancers with projects, has just released their latest quarterly report of the fastest-growing skills seen on their site. Today’s release lists the top 20 fastest-growing skills from Q4 of 2016. Without much of a surprise, natural language processing is listed up at number one, with Apple’s Swift programming language coming in strong at number two.

Consumer Reports has published new results for their MacBook Pro battery testing today after having previously given the system a Do Not Recommend rating. Honeywell has announced today their first-ever Lyric Cameras and eventual software upgrade for Lyric Security systems, which will make the system compatible with Apple’s HomeKit. Honeywell’s two new Wi-Fi indoor cameras, the Lyric C1 and C2, pair with the Lyric app to access live streaming, recorded events, and alerts for when something is seen or analyzed like a smoke/CO detector going off.

Potential Apple partner Energous has once again further delayed the release of their wireless charging technology. In a phone call with the CEO today, Energous stated that plans changed after “key strategic partnership” was made. That doesn’t mean wireless charging is down for the count at this year’s CES though.
