They’re where people come to learn new skills and appreciate design. Rarely in the spotlight themselves, Apple Stores paint the backdrop of every product launch. Yesterday at Steve Jobs Theater, Apple put retail center stage — if just for a moment — to give an update on new initiatives and changes to the store experience.

Apple and Burberry develop ‘R Message’ chat tool for personalized shopping

Apple is partnering with Burberry to help the luxury fashion retailer create a more personal shopping experience. A new service called “R Message” will integrate with Burberry’s iOS app and allow store associates to directly message select clients. The service will be available by invitation only and piloted before rolling out to every Burberry store.

Apple Rennweg opens to replace Bahnhofstrasse store in Zurich

Nestled between the slender and colorful storefronts on Zurich’s Rennweg, Apple’s latest retail store has opened its doors. The new location replaces Apple’s previous home on Bahnhofstrasse, one the most prestigious shopping corridors in all of Switzerland. Apple says first retail store in India ‘will take us some time’

Apple is working to bring its online and brick-and-mortar retail experience to India, but creating a plan that lives up to Apple’s standards for location and design is an intensive process that can’t happen overnight. In a statement released Thursday, Apple said that plans for India’s first official Apple Store “will take us some time.”

Apple Marunouchi opens September 7 in Tokyo

Apple’s fifth retail store in Tokyo and ninth in all of Japan will celebrate its grand opening on September 7 at 10:00 a.m. Anchoring the base of the Mitsubishi Building, Apple Marunouchi brings a unique facade design and Apple’s latest retail initiatives within walking distance of Tokyo Station. The new store is one of several major projects scheduled for completion in 2019 as Apple’s expansion throughout Japan continues.

Khalid wraps Up Next Live concert series at Apple Carnegie Library

Apple’s summer-long tour of Up Next Live concerts concluded yesterday evening in Washington, D.C. with a performance by artist Khalid at Apple Carnegie Library in Mount Vernon Square. The series, created in partnership with Apple Music and Today at Apple, brought free concerts from rising musicians to major Apple Stores across the world through July and August.

Rebuilt Altamonte Springs Apple Store opens August 31 [Update: September 6]

Florida is set to receive its third new Apple Store in less than one month. Apple Altamonte in Altamonte Springs will reopen to customers on August 31 at 10:00 a.m. The store has been temporarily closed since January 13 for significant expansion.

New Waterside Shops Apple Store opens August 24th in Naples, Florida
