Walt Disney has announced a deal to buy most of 21st Century Fox in a deal worth around $66B, made up of $52.4B in stock and about $13.7B in net debt.

Hulu unveils new website for upcoming live TV service, shows off new UI, more [Video]

Last week we reported that Hulu signed A+E Networks for its upcoming live TV service that will be launching this spring. Today Hulu has updated its website promoting the upcoming service with new information and a promotional video. Notably, it shares a glimpse at a brand new UI and some of the upcoming features of the sub $40/month service.

Hulu sets itself apart from DirecTV Now as it secures CBS for upcoming live TV service

Hulu announced today that it has signed a new agreement with CBS to carry content from America’s most-watched broadcast network including both on-demand and live programming. This news comes about a month after DirecTV Now launched without the major network, although CBS CEO Les Moonves has alluded that they’ll be able to figure something out.

Hulu introduces profiles to create personalized experiences for multiple users on a single account

Hulu has announced today the official roll out of profiles to their 12 million subscribers. Profiles will allow multiple viewers to share a single Hulu account, while creating personalized experiences for each. The move to personalized profiles comes after their decision to move away from free TV episode offerings and focus on a subscription centric model.

Hulu will no longer offer free TV episodes, moves to subscription-only model

After over 9 years, Hulu is making a major change to its services by shutting down free TV episodes and moving to subscription services only (via Variety). Current subscribers won’t be affected and prices won’t be changing as the same $7.99 and $11.99 plans will be available, however all free content will be moving over to “Yahoo View”.

Hulu iPhone app overhauled with iPad-like design, new features for parents

Hulu gets a major update today with an all-new design for iPhone alongside a few new features in version 4.7.0.

The new iPhone design looks a lot like the design Hulu was already using on the iPad with navigation tucked under a menu button in the upper left section instead of tabs along the bottom. You’ll also find mostly grid layouts with larger images when the app is displaying lists of content.

And in addition to the updated design, iPhone users will find Hulu’s Kid Lock functionality now available. The parental control feature can be enabled through settings to restrict content for children using the service.

The updated Hulu app for iPhone is available on the App Store now.

Hulu and Pocket for iOS updated w/ support for iOS 9’s Picture in Picture feature

We’ve already rounded up several apps this week that have been updated with iOS 9 support and that rollout continues tonight to a pair of popular apps. This evening, both Pocket and Hulu for iOS have been updated with support for the latest version of Apple’s operating system. Pocket has been updated to version 6.0.1, while Hulu has been updated to 4.6.1.
