Following many complaints about overheating issues affecting iPhone 15 Pro models, Apple released the iOS 17.0.3 update on Wednesday to address these issues. According to the company, the overheating was caused by software, not by hardware or design flaws. Apple also said that it wouldn’t reduce the A17 Pro chip’s performance with the update – but is that true? We tried to find out with some preliminary tests.

iPhone 15 was launched less than two weeks ago, and there are already some users complaining about overheating issues – but it seems that there are more users unhappy with their new iPhone for other reasons. There’s now a small group of people claiming to be experiencing issues with the iPhone 15’s built-in speakers. More specifically, they say that the audio sounds crackly and rattly.

Last week, the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything found that he could crack the back of his iPhone 15 Pro Max by bending it in his hands. People have wondered whether the new titanium frame with rounded edges is less durable, although it’s worth noting the smaller 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro did not crack in the same way.

Consumer Reports tried to repeat the findings with the use of a slightly more scientific methodology, and found that the iPhone 15 Pro Max did not crack under the pressure. Consumer Reports was one of the leading critics of the iPhone design back when the iPhone 6 ‘#Bendgate’ was a thing.

The iPhone 15 devices have been out in the wild for a week and Apple has started a survey asking for feedback from early adopters on what they think about the new phones. Along with questions about important purchase factors, satisfaction with the camera features, and more, Apple wants to know what users would add or change about the new iPhones.

Earlier this week, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that these problems may be caused by design compromises, and new reports from Bloomberg and WSJ reveal that the problem may be worse than it seems.

We’ve written quite a bit about the controversy surrounding Apple’s FineWoven cases for iPhone 15. One thing I wanted to point out today, however, is that it’s not just FineWoven cases that might not work with your USB-C cables.

Since the iPhone 15 Pro launched on Friday, we’ve seen somewhat widespread reports of overheating problems. In a new post on Tuesday, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that these problems aren’t because of the 3nm A17 Pro chip but rather “compromises made in the thermal system.”

When Apple unveiled the iPhone 15 Pro and its new Action button, there was a detail that caught a lot of people off guard. Instead of just pressing the Action button to trigger its assigned task, you had to press and hold the button.

After three days with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, it’s now clear to me why Apple made this decision.

Widespread reports are circulating about the iPhone 15 overheating, seemingly across all models. Measurements taken with an infrared camera show temperatures as high as 116F.

Apple’s new FineWoven cases for iPhone 15 are a huge swing and miss. They suck. Apple should remove them from sale and refund everyone who’s already bought one. You could pretty much stop reading the story at this point, but I’ll offer a few pieces of supporting evidence for my claims.
