iPhone 15 Plus takes the crown in battery life test, beating all previous iPhone models

Following the iPhone 15 release on Friday, the first battery test results are coming in. Apple touted the efficiency of the 3nm A17 Pro chip, so anticipation was high for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max to take the top spot.

Indeed, the Pro Max outlasted all previous iPhones in Mrwhosetheboss’s test. But it was actually bested by the 15 Plus, which racked up more than 13 hours screen on time, and now holds the title of longest iPhone battery life on record.

First iPhone 15 Pro drop test suggests new rounded edge titanium design is less durable

By flying to Australia, AppleTrack’s Sam Kohl brings us the first iPhone 15 drop tests available on YouTube. Based on his video, it seems the new rounded titanium edges are not better for drop test durability than the remarkably enduring iPhone 14 Pro design.

Whereas the flat stainless band on the 14 would absorb much of the impact, the iPhone 15 Pro rounded titanium sides seemed to cause the impact to spread into the front and back glass, causing spiderwebbing cracks.

iPhone versus Huawei battle back on; US National Security Advisor comments; China fights back [U]

iPhone versus Huawei battle back on | Huawei Mate 60 Pro

Update: In seeming response to the White House comments, China has now accused the US of hacking Huawei servers and stealing data.

The iPhone versus Huawei battle is back on in China, following the launch of the Mate 60 Pro (yeah, that’s not an iPod, despite appearances). Sales of the Chinese company’s smartphones plummeted last year, after US tech sanctions blocked it from purchasing 5G radio chips.

The fact that Huawei has now solved this problem has raised a lot of eyebrows, including those of the US National Security Advisor, who commented on it during a recent White House press briefing …

iPhone 15 Pro weight mystery solved: Why it feels lighter than it is

iPhone 15 Pro weight mystery solved | Apple promo photo of new line-up

While Apple made much of the iPhone 15 Pro weight reduction, achieved by swapping out the stainless steel frame for a titanium one, it did create something of a mystery.

The weight reduction of the iPhone 15 Pro versus last year’s model is relatively modest, yet almost everyone present at the launch event – including our own Chance Miller – said that they could really feel the difference …

This year, Apple has done the same with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which also have a removable glass back.
