tvOS 10.1 with new TV app now available for Apple TV

Apple has released the tvOS 10.1 software update for the fourth generation Apple TV. The latest software update includes Apple’s new single sign-on feature which lets you authenticate with your cable provider to unlock all compatible paid video apps. tvOS 10.1 also includes Apple’s new TV app which works with various video services plus iTunes movies and TV shows.

tvOS apps now support direct linking to improve search and sharing for Apple TV

Apple has published a developer update aimed at making it easier for developers to share direct links to tvOS apps. Originally when developers wanted to share tvOS apps, they would have to instruct users to manually search through the App Store on the Apple TV. Apple’s update today includes an update to the iTunes Link Maker where tvOS apps can now also be searched for and linked to directly.

Apple releases iOS 10.1 beta 3 with Portrait camera for iPhone 7 Plus, third tvOS 10.0.1 beta

Apple has released the third iOS 10.1 beta which includes the Portrait camera for iPhone 7 Plus that applies a DSLR-like blur effect over photos using the dual lens system. iOS 10.1 beta 3 is available to registered developers. A public beta of iOS 10.1 for non-developers is also currently active. tvOS 10.0.1 beta 3 for Apple TV is also available for developers.

Apple seeds tvOS 10 GM for the Apple TV to developers

Just a few moments after the September iPhone event keynote ended, Apple has started seeding out the golden master release for tvOS 10 today to all current testers and developers. To update to the final build, developers can check through the Software Update section on the Apple TV, or grab the Configuration Profile from Apple’s Developer center if you’d like to install it for the first time.

Apple issues fourth iOS 9.3.3, tvOS 9.2.2, and OS X 10.11.6 betas

We’re anxiously awaiting iOS 10 beta 2 after just over two weeks with the initial beta version, but Apple has released a fourth beta for any iOS 9.3.3 update testers. Changes so far haven’t been noticeable as the update is likely focused on security enhancements and bug fix improvements.

Apple last released an iOS 9.3.3 beta eight days ago, suggesting its public release is imminent. For Apple TV developers, tvOS 9.2.2 beta 4 is also now available for anyone not already testing tvOS 10 beta. Apple’s OS X 10.11.6 beta 4 is also out today. All three software releases are available to developers and public beta testers.

Here are the iOS & Mac apps that won this year’s Apple Design Awards

Apple has just wrapped up its exciting WWDC 2016 keynote announcing macOS Sierra, iOS 10, watchOS 3, and the latest installment of tvOS. The event was mostly focused on what Apple would be releasing at the end of this year, but Apple also likes to put the attention back on the amazing developers in the community. Every year Apple celebrates developers and the work they’ve accomplished across the various software platforms at its Apple Design Awards. This year’s 2016 Apple Design Awards showcased apps for iOS, OS X, watchOS, and tvOS. The award ceremony made sure to highlight apps that were localized in multiple languages, and had been built with accessibility in mind.

Apple releases full WWDC 2016 keynote video, preview pages for new software

After today’s jam-packed event, Apple has published the full keynote video from this year’s WWDC. Apple has also released the promo videos used during the keynote showing off iOS 10’s newest features and a video dedicated to developers. On the same page with the full keynote page, Apple lists the preview pages showcasing what we’ll be seeing in the official software releases later this fall.
